These answers explain our service and the decisions worth discussing before you enroll. Adult learners are welcome to speak for themselves; tutoring is not limited to children.
Is tutoring online or in person?
Special Ed Resource tutoring is live, one-on-one and online. This NM site does not represent an in-person office in any New Mexico community. Discuss the learner’s participation needs and setup before choosing the format.
Who provides the instruction?
Our tutors are certified in special education. Matching considers the learner’s goals and educator experience. This does not mean every tutor is licensed in New Mexico, has the same method-specific training or is available at your preferred time.
Can you work with preschoolers, teens and adults?
Our tutoring scope runs from preschool through adulthood. The age range does not mean every subject, access need or schedule fits every educator. Describe the academic goal and how the learner participates so the team can discuss a suitable match.
Is the first tutoring consultation free?
Yes. The tutoring consultation is a free first conversation about goals, our online format and fit. It is not free ongoing tutoring, enrollment, a diagnosis or a completed learning plan. Ask about the current fees and terms before agreeing to paid instruction.
Is an IEP consultation the same appointment?
No. The IEP phone consultation is a separate $29.95, 30-minute offer for parent questions, preparation and possible next steps. IEPMomentum is a separate membership option. Neither should be confused with the free tutoring consultation.
Does tutoring replace school services or change an IEP?
No. Private academic instruction does not make school eligibility decisions or rewrite the school’s IEP. Helpful school goals and supports can inform the tutoring discussion, but concerns about school evaluation or services belong with the responsible school team.
Do you diagnose learning disabilities or provide therapy?
This service is academic tutoring, not a diagnostic evaluation, medical treatment, speech therapy, occupational therapy or ABA. Ask the appropriate professional or school about evaluations and services outside academic instruction.
Will a particular tutor or result be guaranteed?
We do not guarantee a named educator, immediate opening, grade, test result or date of skill mastery. A useful plan begins with the learner’s starting point, then looks at meaningful examples of progress rather than relying on a universal promise.
What should I prepare?
Bring one academic task you want to become easier, what already helps and your questions about format, matching, schedule and cost. Avoid sending sensitive records through a public inquiry. Ask the team how to share any needed records securely.
